Kings 25 V Blacktown 12

3rd grade secured the Blunt Cup against Blacktown for the third year in a row.

What a great day for Kobbies, 2nd Grade taking out the Stockdale cup (last won in 1987)  in a hard fought battle with Lindfield.  3rd grade secured the Blunt Cup against Blacktown for the third year in a row.

Well done to all Kobbies this year, 2 premierships only come from a huge effort from all players and coaches.

hung over must go and have a hair of the dog….

It is important that I know numbers for this so if you are a supporter – that is not playing on Saturday – please email me direct at Peter Whittington to confirm if you are…

  1. single trip to TG Millner (morning ride)
  2. single trip to The Oak (afternoon ride)
  3. return trip to The Oak (both)

Both matches are being played at TG Millner Field, located on Vimeria Road at Eastwood. This is the same ground as the grand finals last year.

3rd Grade kick off at 11:50am vs Blacktown. Our guys are going for 3 grand final wins in a row and are up against a very good team – will be a cracking match!

2nd Grade kick off at 1:20pm vs Lindfield. Our 2′s haven’t been in a grand final for a couple of years and will be seeking to revive the past glory days of the ‘Duck’ Farrant Cup victories of ’03 and ’04.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible out there on Saturday, and of course back at The Oak on Saturday night – stay tuned for more details. Good luck to both teams on Saturday.

2′s and 3′s

Get down to Wentworth Park Oval tonight and Thursday 6.30pm

2nd grade won a tough match 15 – 8, coming from behind in a gutsy performance. 3rd grade snuck home 8 – 7 in a tighter affair than they would have hoped for. Both teams now have a week off to rest up and prepare for what will be a couple of big matches on the 15th.

1st grade unfortunately lost their Minor Semi to Newport, 14 – 25. Utilising the same toughness and resilience that has saw the team grow in both skill and respect from opposition teams, our guys this time weren’t able to get over the line against a good Newport side. Whilst it is disappointing to lose in a semi, it is worthwhile to make a couple of observations…

  • This is the first time we have had 1st grade in the finals since 2003
  • The club has come second in the club championship. Whilst undoubtedly everyone in the club contributed to this excellent result, it should be noted that 1st grade contributes half of the points each week to this tally. 1st grades excellent results in 2007 have contributed enormously to our success in the club championship
  • This 1st grade team has been going from strength to strength over the past couple of years and will continue to grow in 2008 and beyond.

So to everyone who played on Saturday, win or lose, congratulations on your efforts and for the outstanding way in which you represent your club. We look forward to seeing you all at TG Millner Field at Eastwood on Saturday 15th September. Kick-off times will be advised in due course.
