Q: Who are the Kings Old Boys?

A: The Kings Old Boys (“KOBS”) play rugby union in the NSW Suburban Rugby 1st Division Championship. KOBS in the 2008 season won: The 2nd Division Club championship. KOBS boasts ex Wallabies, NSW Representatives & Rhodes scholars as past players and coaches.

Q: Who plays for KOBS?

A: Professionals who work in the city or surrounds, people who own their own businesses, construction workers, university students. All walks of life. Only about 30% are ex King’s School students.

Q: Where do KOBS train?

A: KOBS train at Wentworth Park in Ultimo (next to the greyhound track)

Q: When do KOBS train?

A: 6:30pm to 8:30 pm on Thursdays. The first grade team also trains on Tuesday from 7pm to 8:00pm.

Q: Where do KOBS play?

A: KOBS have their own field, known as the Kingdome, and clubhouse, know as the Rug Shack at the King’s School in Parramatta. Turn off the Pennant Hills Road into the school and follow the signs to “Old Boy’s Field”

Q: Why should I play for KOBS?

  • KOBS is a tight knit and friendly club who primarily play for the love of rugby and the friendships that come with playing with a great club.
  • KOBS has an extensive social calendar (such as Ladies day, The infamous ANZAC day pub crawl, race days at Randwick etc) and subsidises where possible functions for student members
  • Easy to get to training from the city/university
  • KOBS provides a bus on most away game days that picks up players from Glebe, University of Sydney and North Sydney.
  • KOBS is a well structured and organised club that is financially secure
  • Many older members are college and university graduates who can provide mentoring with respect to university and work force issues

Q: How much are the subs for playing for KOBS?

A: The subs for the 2009 season are $230 for employed members and $160 for players who are students. This amount includes insurance, shorts and socks. Because of our sponsor base, the subs payable at KOBS are less then comparable clubs in the competition and we can subsidise our student members.
