Who are Kings Old Boys?
Kings Old Boys (KOBS) play rugby union in the NSW Suburban 2nd Division Championship. We have a rich history and in 2012 are celebrating our 45th anniversary. We last won the 2nd Division Club Championship in 2008, and in 2010 we were 1st Grade Premiers.
Who plays for KOBS?
We have a wide variety of players from all walks of life- professionals who work in the city or surrounds, people who own their own businesses, construction workers, university students. Our players live all over Sydney- in the Eastern Suburbs, the Inner West, the Hills District and the North Shore. Despite the name, only around 25% of our players attended the King’s School.
Where do KOBS train?
We train at Wentworth Park in Ultimo, adjacent to the greyhound track and a short walk from the city. Training is on Thursday nights from 6:30-8:30.
Where do KOBS play?
KOBS have their own field (known as the Kingdome) and clubhouse (known as the Rug Shack) at the King’s School in Parramatta. Games are held on Saturday from 11:00am until 5:00pm.
How much does it cost to play with KOBS?
The subs for the 2011 season were $250 for employed members and $170 for students. This amount includes insurance, shorts, socks and a club polo. Because of our wide sponsor base the subs payable at KOBS are almost the cheapest in Sydney, and we can partly subsidise our student members.
Why should I play for KOBS?
KOBS is a tight-knit and friendly club who play only for the love of rugby and the camaraderie and friendships that come with it. We are well coached and have a great winning record.
Our training ground is close to the city and major universities, with our sponsor pub right nearby.
We have an extensive social calendar, with events such as Ladies Day, Back to White Day and the Cocktail Party occurring throughout the season.
We are a well structured and organised club that is financially secure. Also many older members are college and university graduates who can provide mentoring with respect to university and work force issues.
I’ve heard enough. Where do I sign up?
